This cross country-style race passes through a dairy barn, weaves through a cornfield and will finish alongside a sheep pasture!
This race will give participants the opportunity to see the South Dakota State University College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences like nobody has before!
Registration
Early-bird registration (July 31-September 6): $25.
Regular registration (September 7-26): $35
Group registration (Register 10 participants for the price of 8, available July 31-September 6): $200
All participants who register before September 15 will receive a t-shirt. Participants who register after September 15 may receive a t-shirt, depending on size availability. All participants will receive a college drawstring bag, day pass to the Miller Recreation and Wellness Center and other sponsor related goodies.
Route
A cowbell start will kick off the race at the SDSU Ruminant Nutrition Center at 8 a.m. The 3–4-mile route will follow grass paths to the SDSU Dairy Research, Education and Training Facility and run through the dairy barn! It will then loop back along the edge of the race start weaving through a corn field before ending at the SDSU Sheep Research and Teaching Unit (3729 Medary Ave, Brookings, SD 57006). A defined course map with specific length will be made available to all registered participants by the end of August.
Please note: No part of the race will take place on public roadways, most of it will be on grass. There are some spots on the course that will have uneven footing.
Awards
All participants will receive a blue finisher’s ribbon! The awards presentation will begin around 9:15 a.m. at the Sheep Research and Teaching Unit. The top two men/women finishers in the following categories will receive champion ribbons.

Check-in
Race check-in and t-shirt pick up will be Friday, September 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. and Saturday, September 26 from 7-7:45 a.m. at the SDSU Ruminant Nutrition Center (3727 Medary Ave Brookings, SD 57006). Walk-in registrations will be allowed, but a t-shirt is not guaranteed.
Breakfast on the Farm
Immediately after the race, the Breakfast on the Farm event will be taking place at the sheep unit. All participants, family and friends are welcome to join for a morning of fun and educational activities about where our food comes from! There will be farm equipment, animals, interactive experiences and breakfast!
Parking
Parking is available near the race start at the SDSU Ruminant Nutrition Center (3727 Medary Ave Brookings, SD 57006). The race finish, awards and the Breakfast on the Farm event will be a short walk away at the SDSU Sheep Research and Teaching Unit (3729 Medary Ave, Brookings, SD 57006).
