Deer Dash Trail Races at Oak Grove Park

 

About This Race

This race will take place at Oak Grove Park annuall as part of the SFARC Trail Race Series! The One Ear Deer Dash trail races are named for the deer with only one ear (Debbie) which has been a resident of Oak Grove Park for several years and is often seen roaming about the park in the early morning and evening hours foraging and looking after her fawns. Park staff estimate she around 8 years old and is the unofficial mascot of the park! (R.I.P. Debbie winter ‘23)

Oak Grove Park is a beautiful 433-acre county park located along the Big Sioux River in Western Sioux County Iowa and is about an hour’s drive from Sioux Falls, SD or Sioux City, IA. Entrance to the park is free as is parking. The park offers overnight camping, cabins, and modern restroom facilities with showers. Click HERE for more information about the park.

’24 SF Run Club Member: $30 through registration cutoff

Race Start: 8:30 AM for the 12 Mile Race | 9:00 AM for the 7.5 Mile Race | 9:30 AM for the 3.5 Mile Race

Points Series


1st place in each division for each race receives 10 points. Points go down by 1 sequentially. 2nd place receives 9 points all the way to 10th place receiving 1 point. At the end of the series, we’ll tally up the points in each age division, and give out gift cards to the top three male and female finishers.

We will also crown overall champions (male/female) and they will earn framed pictures of their favorite course. (see example HERE)

Where do our profits go?

After covering the cost of of the races, any profits from the SFARC Trail Race Series are used by various non-profits.

  • Sioux Falls Area Running Club - we keep a portion to cover our overall club operational costs.

  • Falls Area Single Track - we donate the majority of our profits to F.A.S.T. to help fund their trail building efforts. 25 miles in 2025 is coming closer and closer to reality, providing the residents of Sioux Falls access to beautiful multi-use single track trails all within the city limits of Sioux Falls.
